[Sulin] readies the [Maidens|Maidens of the Spear] and [Asmodean] brings [Jeade'en|JeadeEn (Rand)]. A refugee named [Pevin|pevin] now carries [Rand|Rand alThor]'s banner. [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Aviendha] ride off. They pass the captured [Shaido] and [Rand|Rand alThor] is amazed at how many there are. He also notes other [Aiel] wearing scarlet headbands with the [Aes Sedai] symbol on them. The guards at the gate hastily send riders to the [Sun Palace]. The commoners greet [Rand|Rand alThor] enthusiastically. Soon, [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] rides up accompanied by several [Tairen|Tear (Country)] nobles and [Defenders of the Stone|Tear (City)]. The nobles include [Edorion|Edorion Selorna] and [Reimon]. [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] is angry at being caught by surprise. They all ride to the [Sun Palace]. [Sulin] chooses twenty [Maidens|Maidens of the Spear] to accompany [Rand|Rand alThor], [Aviendha] and [Asmodean] inside. They include [Enaila], [Lamelle|lamelle] and [Somara]. The other High Lords, [Torean|Torean Andiama], [Gueyam], [Simaan], [Maraconn], [Hearne] and [Aracome], greet [Rand|Rand alThor] at the entrance. They are all angry that [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] went out to meet him without telling the rest. Thinking that [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Thom|Thom Merrilin] would be proud of him, he puts the High Lords off guard by greeting some warmly and giving a cool response to others. In the [Grand Hall|Sun Palace], all the [Tairen|Tear (Country)] lords stand in front while the [Cairhienin|Cairhien (Country)] are relegated to the rear. [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] leads the way to the [Sun Throne|Sun Palace], but [Rand|Rand alThor] asks for a chair saying the [Sun Throne|Sun Palace] belongs to someone else.[4] He orders the [Cairhienin|Cairhien (Country)] nobles to join the [Tairens|Tear (Country)] in order of rank. Then he orders that all but one of his Dragon banners be replaced with the Rising Sun of [Cairhien|Cairhien (Country)] to join the Crescent banners of [Tear|Tear (Country)].
