Nynaeve POV#

Nynaeve and Elayne sneak out of the inn past Mistress Jharen. As they walk through an alleyway, the only person they see is a man feeding pigeons.[1] They walk west out of town and soon Thom and Juilin catch up. Thom found a wagon, so the three of them ride while Juilin rides Skulker. Thom has learned that Pedron Niall is trying to unite the nations against Rand. Elayne says that Morgase will support Rand.[2] Elayne has no regrets foiling Galad. They find Valan Luca's menagerie where they left it. Luca is still angry, but Elayne offers him a hundred gold marks to take them with him to Ghealdan. He still does not want to accept until Thom offers to perform. Elayne will walk the high rope since Sedrin, the highwalker, fell and died. Luca introduces them to the rest of the troupe. Petra the strongman is married to Clarine, the dog trainer. Latelle is the bear trainer. Aludra claims to be an Illuminator.[3] Several acrobats are supposedly brothers though they look nothing alike. They include Taeric Chavana and Barit Chavana.[4] The jugglers, Bari and Kin, really are brothers. Cerandin tells them her beasts are Mer, the bull, Sanit, the cow, and Nerin, the calf. She calls them s'redit. Nynaeve recognizes her accent. Later, Nynaeve and Elayne confront her about being Seanchan. She finally admits that she was left behind at Falme. She denies being a sul'dam. Elayne offers her protection whereupon she prostrates herself and submits herself to Elayne as a High Lady. Luca and Latelle see this. Elayne tells her to stop, then says she will teach Cerandin how to behave properly in the Westlands if she will answer their questions. They begin their journey to Ghealdan.
