- Furyk Karede is born circa 958 NE to a family of weavers who are the property of Jalid Magonine, a merchant of Ancarid. (CoT,Ch4)
- At the age of fifteen, Karede is selected for the Deathwatch Guard. (CoT,Ch4)
- After seven years, Karede is named to the bodyguard of Tuon at her birth. (CoT,Ch4)
- Karede is made an officer after distinguishing himself at the Muyami Uprising and the Jianmin incident. (CoT,Ch4)
- After saving her life, Tuon gives him her doll Emela. He keeps it for ten years until it is lost in a fire in Sohima. (CoT,Ch4)
- Karede is chosen to accompany High Lord Turak with the Hailene. (CoT,Ch4)
