[Maksim], [Ihvon] and [Lan] are meditating, but [Maksim] plainly looks impatient. He soon gets up, puts on his shoes and then leaves.
[Lan] remarks that he lasted ten minutes this time.
[Ihvon] says that people don't understand the quiet ones are quiet because the conversation's always playing out in our own heads.
[Lan] opens up and tells [Ihvon] that [Moiraine] told him that she never considered him an equal.
[Ihvon] responds that of course they aren't equals and aren't supposed to be. He talks about the power [Aes Sedai]s have and that the
world sees their strengths while [Warder]s see their weaknesses and remind them that they are not gods.
[Lan] jokes that he didn't think that [Alanna] needed a reminder. [Ihvon] says that she knows that they all want the same thing,
which is the triumph of Light over the Dark. And dessert after.
[Ihvon] asks [Lan] what [Moiraine] wants and [Lan] replies that maybe that's the problem; he doesn't think he knows anymore.
[Maksim], [Ihvon], and [Lan] are meditating at the Mosvani family hold in [Arafel], sitting in a quiet circle under the night sky. [Maksim] looks visibly impatient, shifting restlessly, and after a short while, he gives up, stands, puts on his shoes, and leaves. [Lan] remarks dryly that [Maksim] lasted ten minutes this time. [Ihvon], still calm, reflects that people often misunderstand the quiet ones—they’re quiet because the conversation is always playing out in their own heads. [Lan] opens up, sharing that [Moiraine] once told him she never considered him an equal. [Ihvon] responds that of course they aren’t equals, nor are they meant to be, explaining that [Aes Sedai] wield immense power, and the world sees their strengths, but [Warders] see their weaknesses and remind them they are not gods. [Lan] jokes that he didn’t think [Alanna] needed such a reminder, to which [Ihvon] replies that she knows they all share the same goal: the triumph of the Light over the Dark—and dessert after. [Ihvon] then asks [Lan] what [Moiraine] truly wants, and [Lan] admits that might be the problem—he doesn’t think he knows anymore.
