[Rand passes by [gleeman] in the [Foregate|Cairhien (City)] telling a story to a crowd about the [Hunt for the Horn]. As [Rand] continues through the Foregate, he also sees people getting branded with an image of the [Horn]. He sees [Selene] nearby and walks to her, asking what's going on. She tells him that people are gathering to be Hunters for the [Horn], but [Rand] doesn't know anything about the [Horn]. She explains that every few hundred years they call the [Hunt for the Horn] in [Illian|Illian (City)]. She explains that legends says that whoever finds it can summon an army of the dead. The Queen of [Cairhien (Country)] has promised half her fortune to whomever finds it and brings it back to [Cairhien (Country)].

[Egwene] and [Elayne] are walking through the [Tower], with [Egwene] complaining about a hangover and [Elayne] ribbing her about it. [Egwene] knocks on [Nynaeve]'s door, and hearing no response, opens the door and enters the room. To their surprise, they see [Sheriam] packing [Nynaeve]'s things. [Sheriam] says this wasn't the way she wanted [Egwene] to find out, and then explains how [Nynaeve] went through the [Three Arches] but never came out.
[Egwene] want to go get [Nynaeve] out, but [Elayne] says that's not how they work. [Sheriam] says that [Egwene]'s grief will help her grow stronger in the long run.
[Sheriam] leaves and [Elayne] tries to comfort [Egwene], but she orders [Elayne] out of the room, and she leaves. [Egwene] slams the door shut and collapses to the ground, crying.
