[Domon|Bayle Domon] thinks it is madness, but [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath] reminds him that [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] gave her word not to try to escape. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] thinks that it does not matter. His ''ta'veren''ness will either keep them safe or bring him face to face with [Suroth|Suroth Sabelle Meldarath], whichever the [Pattern|Wheel of Time] wants. He does not think they will be safe until they cross the [Damona Mountains|../geography/damona] into [Murandy]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] goes to [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag]'s purple wagon, passing the four Chavana brothers including [Brugh Chavana|../characters/b/brugh_chavana], [Taeric Chavana|../characters/t/taeric_chavana] and [Barit Chavana|../characters/b/barit_chavana] on his way. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] waits with [Selucia] while [Gorderan] stands guard. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] refuses to honor her with a title as long as she continues to call him "Toy". They walk out of the camp while [Luca|Valan Luca] and [Latelle|latelle] ready the show for performance. As they walk to the town, [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] has to dodge a number of people who seem to walk right at him. A moment later, the road is empty.[1] The guards at the town gate are local. Two cloaked women follow her. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] watches them, wondering if they are two of the %%ot [sul'dam|Seanchan (People)]%%[4] and where [Teslyn|../../characters/t/teslyn] and [Joline|Joline Maza] are. He turns back and [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] and [Selucia] are nowhere to be seen. In a panic, [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] spins in a circle then walks straight ahead to a shop. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] and [Selucia] are there. He is just in time to stop the angry shopkeeper from sending her assistant, [Nelsa|nelsa], for the town guards. Nevertheless, the dice do not stop. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] buys yards of silk and linen then they head back to the show. [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] runs up with news that [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath] is injured. They all run to [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]'s wagon where [Domon|Bayle Domon] is holding [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath]. [Luca|Valan Luca] tries to shoo away onlookers such as [Miyora|miyora], the leopard trainer, but they ignore him. [Domon|Bayle Domon] says that [Renna|Renna Emain] stabbed her in the back and fled. [Vanin|Chel Vanin] and the [Redarms|Band of the Red Hand], [Lopin], [Nerim] and [Olver] are looking for her but the crowd is too thick. [Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon] arrives. [Joline|Joline Maza] is better at [Healing|Weaves#h], but there is no time so she [Heals|../Weaves#h] [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath].[5] There is no way to know who might have seen what and what tales might spread. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] tells [Luca|Valan Luca] to pack up the show and get moving as fast as he can. [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] questions whether they should leave [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] and [Selucia] behind, but [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] says everyone goes. The five of them head out and soon catch up to [Vanin|Chel Vanin]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] thinks of those who will die if they do not catch [Renna|Renna Emain]: [Luca|Valan Luca] and [Latelle|latelle], [Petra|petra] and [Clarine|clarine]. They follow the road, pacing the horses, and catch up to [Renna|Renna Emain] as she is climbing a rise. Before they can reach her she will be over the rise and in sight of the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] camp at [Coramen]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] feels something flicker and die inside him as he orders [Harnan] to shoot. [Harnan] kills her with a crossbow dart. She rolls downhill and into a stream that connects to the [Eldar River].[8] [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] thinks to himself that he will never kill a woman again, even if it is his life.[9] They return to [Jurador|../geography/altara/jurandor/index] to find that the show has not yet left. At [Luca|Valan Luca]'s wagon [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] and [Selucia] are waiting with [Luca|Valan Luca] and [Latelle|latelle]. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] ordered them to stay and gave [Luca|Valan Luca] a warrant putting his show under her personal protection. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] reports that [Renna|Renna Emain] is dead. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] orders him not to mourn her; she was a traitor who deserved to die. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] tells [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] that his name is not on the warrant, but he notes that she is wearing the cluster of rosebuds. Not knowing what else to do, [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] just laughs.
