LoC: Under the Dust

Nynaeve POV#

Theodrin works on Nynaeve's block and they wind up punching each other. Theodrin is amazed that Nynaeve can channel at all since it requires surrendering. Theodrin is not very good at Healing. It uses Spirit, Air and Water.

After the lesson, Nynaeve walks back to her room and sees Tarna Feir walking down the street. Back in her room, Elayne is waiting. She had a miserable day, too. Escaralde insists on being taught to make ter'angreal even though she is not strong enough. Varilin burned herself severely and had to be Healed by Dagdara Finchey. Then in her novice class Keatlin complained constantly about taking orders from a girl. Then Ibrella nearly burned up the class with a huge fireball. Faolain then reprimanded her for not keeping her class under control. She came looking for Nicola who was supposed to be doing errands for her instead of attending the class.

Elayne and Nynaeve discuss leaving and going to Caemlyn. Moghedien has been trying to convince both of them to go.[1] Nynaeve tells Elayne about eavesdropping at the Little Tower. They argue more about whether or not to leave.

Suddenly, Tarna Feir enters. She tells Elayne that Elaida wants her back in the White Tower but Elayne refuses to go. Tarna dismisses her to talk to Nynaeve. She says she was a wilder, too, but Galina Casban took a personal interest in her and beat her block out of her. She tells Nynaeve that she and Egwene are priceless for what they know about Rand, then she asks where Egwene is. Nynaeve says she has not seen her in months. Tarna tries to convince her to return to the White Tower and tell them all she knows about Rand, but Nynaeve denies knowing much. Tarna knows that Siuan and Leane are there and she hints that she knows about Logain as well. She says she is leaving in the morning, then she departs.

Later, Nynaeve and Elayne talk. Elayne is even more convinced that they should stay. She wants to visit Tel'aran'rhiod and use Need to find a way to convince the Salidar Aes Sedai that they should not go back to Elaida. That evening there is a feast for Tarna. Gareth Bryne still sits just outside the Little Tower. That night Elayne and Nynaeve go to sleep.

They are standing by their beds. They hold hands and think of Need.

They are standing in a square in Tar Valon. They use Need again.

They are standing in a hall in the White Tower. Elayne spots Egwene down the hallway. They use Need again.

They are in a storeroom. It is a storage place for *angreal. They open the door and find a guardroom. Evidently the place is heavily guarded in the real world.[2] They realize that there is no way they can ever access whatever is in the room, so they concentrate on Need, a ter'angreal, not in Tar Valon.

They are in a city with lots of bridges and canals.[3] They use Need again.

They are in a dingy street lined with five and six story buildings.[4] They use Need again.

They are in a small storeroom. Everything is covered with dust. They use Need again.

They are standing at the far end of the storeroom directly in front of a large box. They open it and start digging, but find mostly junk. They use Need one more time as they both reach into the box.

Both of their hands are on a large package they unwrap it and find a two foot bowl.[5] Elayne tests it and determines that it is, indeed, a powerful ter'angreal. She thinks it has something to do with the weather. They walk out of the building and soon are hopelessly lost, but they determine that they are in Ebou Dar. Elayne tells Nynaeve that Ebou Dari Wise Women are supposed to know more about herbs than anyone does. They return to their bodies.

They talk briefly, then Elayne goes to sleep. Nynaeve remembers that Theodrin wanted her to stay awake all night as a new way to work on her block. Crying, Nynaeve gets out of bed to walk.

[#2] This is the same room where Fain found the ruby dagger and where the most dangerous One Power objects are stored. It is never revealed exactly what object drew them to this room.
[#3] The nice part of Ebou Dar.
