The [Two Rivers] folk want [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] to re-open the [Waygate|Ways] so that [Mat|Mat (TV)] can get in, but she doesn't, saying that he made his choice. She remarks that they must continue on, and she and [Lan|Lan (TV)] start walking. [Loial|Loial (TV)] warns the [Two Rivers] folk against using the [One Power] because it will attract [Machin Shin] and then he leaves to catch up with [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] and [Lan|Lan (TV)]. The [Two Rivers] folk agree to find [Mat|Mat (TV)] when this is all over, and then they too continue onward.
[Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] and [Lan|Lan (TV)] discuss the consequences of the Dragon Reborn being [Mat|Mat (TV)] and [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] says she would not allow him to get close to the [Dark One|ShaiTan].
As they walk along, [Loial|Loial (TV)] talks about the history of the [Ways] and how fruit trees once thrived on each of the "islands" and that the paths connecting the islands were once soft and verdant and covered in grass, but now, if someone were to fall off, they would fall forever.
[Perrin|Perrin (TV)] tells everyone that he can see something ahead[3], but none of the others can see what he's talking about. They soon reach a guiding stone, but it has been marred as if someone or something tried to destroy it. [Loial|Loial (TV)] says he should be able to read it, but will need some time, so [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] says they should all get rest while they can. [Lan|Lan (TV)] tells [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] that something is following them. The [Two Rivers] folk eventually fall asleep.

[Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] adds that now they know what happened to the guiding stone. [Perrin|Perrin (TV)] notices that it just got a lot colder. [Loial|Loial (TV)] says that [Machin Shin] translates to "Black Wind" and [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] tells everyone not to listen to what [Machin Shin] will say to them. [Lan|Lan (TV)] says that they won't make it to their intended [Waygate|Ways] and asks [Loial|Loial (TV)] how far it is to the [Fal Dara] one. [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] tells [Loial|Loial (TV)] to take them there. More lightning flashes.[5] They make it to the island with the [Fal Dara] [Waygate|Ways] when [Machin Shin] attacks. It tells the characters the following:[6]
* [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)]: You're wrong about everything. You'll murder these children and call it heroism.
* [Egwene|Egwene (TV)]: You're an imposter, a fraud.
* [Rand|Rand (TV)]: [Egwene|Egwene (TV)] will never love you as much a you love her. She left you once and she'll do it again.[7]
* [Perrin|Perrin (TV)]: You wanted [Laila|Laila (TV)] dead, out of the way. You killed her because you loved another woman more than your wife.
* [Lan|Lan (TV)]: You can't protect her. You'll watch her die.
* [Nynaeve|Nynaeve (TV)]: You'll hear their screams as they die, just like you heard your parents, and you'll do nothing to save them. You lost [Mat|Mat (TV)] and you'll lose the others one by one, until you have no one.

[Lord Yakota|Yakota (TV)] greets [Lan|Lan (TV)] as "Dai Shan" and welcomes them on behalf of Lord [Agelmar|Agelmar (TV)]. [Uno|Uno (TV)] personally greets [Lan|Lan (TV)]. They walk to the throne room. Lord [Agelmar|Agelmar (TV)] greets [Lan|Lan (TV)] and then asks [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] what she's doing here. She starts to explain, but Lord [Agelmar|Agelmar (TV)] cuts her off, guessing that she's here because his sister, who is in the room, wrote to the [White Tower] about the encroaching [Blight] and [Trolloc] raids. He says that as always, [Fal Dara] will be able to protect their own. [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] responds that they're not here to advise him on how to protect the [Gap|Tarwins Gap], but rather to warn him that the [Dark One|ShaiTan] is using the [Ways] to move his armies and to suggest that he get some men to wall up the [Fal Dara] [Waygate|Ways], which he agrees to. He apologizes to [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] and says that all of them are welcome there as long as they wish.

Lady [Amalisa|Amalisa Jagad (TV)] asks [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] if she would answer why she was in the [Ways]. [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] notes that Lady [Amalisa|Amalisa Jagad (TV)] trained in the [Tower|White Tower], but only attained Accepted, and asks is she can still be trusted. Lady [Amalisa|Amalisa Jagad (TV)] says that her allegiance is with [Fal Dara]. [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] asks if Lady [Amalisa|Amalisa Jagad (TV)] would deliver a message for her to the [Red Ajah]: find [Mat|Mat (TV)].

They all enter a tavern and take a seat at a table. [Rand|Rand (TV)] and [Perrin|Perrin (TV)] discuss the Way of the Leaf. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve (TV)] notes that [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] is talking with [Min|Min (TV)].
[Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] and [Min|Min (TV)] are talking at the bar. [Min|Min (TV)] asks if the rest of them know what she is and [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] answers that no one does, thanks to the [Aes Sedai], otherwise she would be constantly hounded or worse. [Min|Min (TV)] tell her what she sees:

[Min|Min (TV)] further says that they're all linked and sparks of light trying to fill the shadows and the shadow trying to swallow the sparks. They're all very clear visions. [Min|Min (TV)] also has a vision for [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)]. She see the [Amyrlin Seat|Aes Sedai], in full regalia, who will be her downfall.[10]

She says that they're leaving at dawn tomorrow. [Rand|Rand (TV)] asks who [Min|Min (TV)] was, and [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] explains, adding that she was hoping to find out who the Dragon Reborn is to save the lives of the rest of them, but didn't. They discuss whether she is right and whether they will go or not. [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] tells them to make a decision, because they're leaving at dawn.

She says she now understands that he bonded with [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] for a sense of belonging. He tells her that [Moiraine|Moiraine (TV)] does not own her the same way the rest of the [Two Rivers] group does not own her. He then asks her to stay the rest of the night.

She tell him about the first vision she ever had, which was a man in armor carrying [Rand|Rand (TV)]'s heron-marked blade.
We switch back to the scene in the cold open, with [Tam|Tam (TV)] helping [Tigraine|Tigraine (TV)] give birth, and her dying soon afterwards. [Min|Min (TV)] continues, saying she saw a baby born on the slopes of [Dragonmount], with [Tam|Tam (TV)] raising this child in the [Two Rivers] and that the baby was "something impossible."
[Rand|Rand (TV)] asks [Min|Min (TV)] what she sees now, and she answers "rainbows, carnivals and three beautiful women."[11] He also asks her if he makes it back from the [Eye of the World], but she doesn't answer and just grabs a bottle and stands up.

[Perrin|Perrin (TV)] enters next and closes the door behind him. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve (TV)] asks them what they have decided to do and they both want to go to the [Eye of the World]. [Egwene|Egwene (TV)] asks where [Rand|Rand (TV)] is and [Perrin|Perrin (TV)] says he assumed he was with her.
