- Lady Ines Demain gives birth in a farmhouse two miles from Dragonmount the day after Gitara's Foretelling. She names her son Rahien because she sees the sun rise over Dragonmount. (NS,Ch23, NS,Epilogue)
- Her husband dies suddenly. She loved him dearly so she goes into seclusion at the Aesdaishar Palace for a full month of mourning. (NS,Ch24)
