[Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] remarks that it must be [Masema|Masema Dagar] and [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] is furious. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] goes to his room and after some time [Loial] comes by. He is delighted that his bed is sung wood, maybe a thousand years old. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] skips dinner to think things through. He is worried about the girl staring at him. He feels like he is working one of Master [Haral Luhhan|../characters/h/h_luhhan]'s puzzles. Later, he goes to talk to [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred]. She tells him they must learn if [Rand|Rand alThor] went cross-country or took a boat down river.[1] He asks if she could sense a [Darkfriend|Darkfriends] and tells her about the girl. She says the [Darkfriend|Darkfriends] would have to be really evil for her to sense them. He goes down to the common room where [Orban|orban] is regaling the patrons with the story of how he on his horse, [Lion|../creatures/horses/lion], and [Gann|gann] fought the [Aiel]. [Gaul] cites [Aiel prophecy|../prophecies/aiel] that says, "when the [Stone of Tear] falls we will leave the [Three-fold Land|Aiel Waste] at last. We will be changed, and find again what was ours, and was lost." A dozen [Whitecloaks|Children of the Light] attack and [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] and [Gaul] kill them all. [Gaul] tells [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] that only he and his friend, [Sarien|sarien], were attacked by [Orban|orban]. [Sarien|sarien] was killed. [Gaul] runs off into the night. As [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] heads back to the inn, he sees the girl again watching him. [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] walks up, sees what [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] did, and says they have to leave immediately.
