[Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] is meeting with six [Sitters], [Duhara|Duhara Basaheen], ([Red|Red Ajah]), [Velina|Velina Behar], ([White|White Ajah]), [Shevan], ([Brown|Brown Ajah]), [Andaya|Andaya Forae], ([Gray|Gray Ajah]), [Rubinde Acedone], ([Green|Green Ajah]), and [Sedore|Sedore Dajenna], ([Yellow|Yellow Ajah]). [Shevan] wears a dress of dark golden silk.[1] [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] is annoyed that everyone in the [White Tower] now seems to know about [forkroot|Herbs]. Her clock reminds her once again that she wants the glory that [Cemaile|Cemaile Sorenthaine] dreamed of. They are discussing the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] taking [Amador] and [Ebou Dar], the [Salidar Aes Sedai] in [Murandy] and [Rand|Rand alThor] taking [Illian|Illian (Country)]. [Velina|Velina Behar] does not believe stories of %%ot [a'dam|aDam]%%. They do not know where [Darlin|Darlin Sisnera], [Caraline|Caraline Damodred] and [Toram Riatin] are hiding. [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] threatens to send them to [Silviana|Silviana Brehon], something she does often. She has expelled two [Sitters].[2] 

As the [Sitters] rise to leave, [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] enters, after mysteriously vanishing for two weeks.[3] [Velina|Velina Behar] flinches.[4] The [Sitters] leave. [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] thinks to herself that she has not spoken to [Seaine|Seaine Herimon], but she sincerely hopes that she has come up with something to charge [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] with treason. [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] still has hopes that [Toveine|Toveine Gazal] will succeed in taking the [Black Tower]. [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] orders [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] to sign a decree acknowledging [Rand|Rand alThor] as the [Dragon Reborn|Rand alThor], and ordering all who wish to approach him to go through the [White Tower] or be branded traitors to the Light. [Rand|Rand alThor] is also granted the protection of the [White Tower]. [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] leaves. [Silviana|Silviana Brehon] enters wearing her red-fringed shawl[5] to administer punishment that [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] ordered.

[Mesaana] in disguise orders [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] to investigate why all the heads of the [Ajahs|Aes Sedai], except the [Red|Red Ajah], are meeting in secret. [Mesaana] thinks [Galina|Galina Casban] was killed.[6] [Galina|Galina Casban] was the only [Ajah|Aes Sedai] head who is [Black|Black Ajah], however there are [Black Ajah] sisters among the [Sitters].[7] [Ferane Neheran] and [Suana Dragand] are the only [Sitters] who are actually heads of their [Ajahs|Aes Sedai]. While kissing her hem, [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] notes that [Mesaana] is really wearing a dress of bronze silk[8] with black scrollwork. [Alviarin|Alviarin Freidhen] realizes [Mesaana] does not know everything that goes on in the [White Tower].
