The [Cairhienin|Cairhien (Country)] often have fireworks because there is an [Illuminator|Guild of Illuminators] chapter house in the city. [Loial] says Elder [Haman|haman] thinks [Galldrian|Galldrian su Riatin Rie] is a disgrace. At the city gate, an officer, [Asan Sandair|../characters/a/asan_sandair], takes their names. [Rand|Rand alThor] asks him if he knows [Selene|Lanfear] causing further suspicion. [Hurin] takes [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Loial] to the [Defender of the Dragonwall|../geography/cairhien/cairhien/defender] where the innkeeper, [Cuale|cuale], greets them. They get rooms on the third floor. [Rand|Rand alThor] hopes that [Ingtar|Ingtar Shinowa] will arrive soon. [Loial] stays to guard the [Horn|Horn of Valere] while [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Hurin] go downstairs. [Cuale|cuale] presents [Rand|Rand alThor] with three invitations that already arrived. [Rand|Rand alThor] angrily burns them. [Hurin] warns him that he has made enemies of three minor Houses.[1] [Rand|Rand alThor] goes out and soon runs into [Thom|Thom Merrilin]. His audiences only want The [Great Hunt of the Horn|Horn of Valere], not the [Karaethon Cycle|Karaethon Prophecies] despite the news from [Haddon Mirk] and [Saldaea].[2] [Thom|Thom Merrilin] says the [Fade] just injured him then ran after [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] seems disappointed that [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] is not with [Rand|Rand alThor][3] and assumes that this means [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] or [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] was her target. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] did not go to [Illian|Illian (City)] because of the turmoil at [Whitebridge] and because [Domon|domon] and the ''[Spray]'' had already sailed. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] tells [Rand|Rand alThor] to bring his flute and harp to [The Bunch of Grapes|../geography/cairhien/cairhien/bunch_grapes], outside the [Jangai Gates|../geography/cairhien/cairhien/index] in the east wall.
