[Elayne|Elayne Trakand] is bored watching [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] sleep. She [Heals|Weaves] [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara]'s black eye - about her limit in [Healing|Weaves]. Thinking about [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and the Game of Houses, she recalls another of [Lini|Lini Eltring]'s sayings about being careful. She notices [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] crying in her sleep, then she wakes sobbing. The door bursts open and [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] bring in [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion]. They say she suddenly appeared out of nowhere. After the men leave, [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] tries to [Heal|Weaves] [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] with a complex weave of [Spirit|One Power], [Water|One Power], [Air|One Power], [Earth|One Power] and [Fire|One Power]. It does not work because there is nothing to [Heal|Weaves]. She is just dying. [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] weaves [Spirit|One Power] and bonds her as a [Warder|Warder]. She saw it done in the [White Tower]. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] begins to recover. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] tells [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] the whole story of how [Moghedien] caught them. She thinks [Moghedien] is probably still alive. She is wracked with guilt and fears that [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion]'s status as one of the [Heroes of the Horn|Horn of Valere] may be destroyed. They know that [Moghedien] will looking for a menagerie now, but there are already eleven near [Samara] and three more besides themselves waiting to cross the bridge. Distraught, [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] goes out into the night to walk.
