[Rand|Rand alThor] has run from the [Andor Royal Palace|Royal Palace] to [The Queen's Blessing|The Queens Blessing]. [Lamgwin Dorn] sees him coming and stands up, expecting trouble. [Rand|Rand alThor] asks where [Master Gill|Basel Gill] is and [Lamgwin Dorn] tells him that he's in the library. [Rand|Rand alThor] enters the library and finds [Master Gill|Basel Gill] playing stones with [Loial]. [Rand|Rand alThor] tells them of his experience in the previous chapter, [TEotW,Ch40]. [Master Gill|Basel Gill] tells [Rand|Rand alThor] that he must leave in the next two days or else [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] will find him. They contemplate fetching [Mother Grubb] for [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. [Loial] says that he is going with [Rand|Rand alThor]. 

[Gilda] then knocks on the library door and tells [Master Gill|Basel Gill] that there are [Whitecloaks] in the common room.  [Master Gill|Basel Gill] and [Rand|Rand alThor] go out to meet them. There are five [Whitecloaks] in the common room. They are looking for "a boy from the [Two Rivers]."[1] and are very rude and curt and imply that [Morgase|Morgase Trakand] is a [Darkfriend|Darkfriends]. Every man in the room stands up and draws their sword. [Master Gill|Basel Gill] orders them out and they start to leave. [Lamgwin Dorn] blocks the door until [Master Gill|Basel Gill] motions for him to get out of the way. The [Whitecloaks] then leave. 

[Gilda] reappears and tells [Master Gill|Basel Gill] that there is a lady in the kitchen who is asking for [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] by name. [Rand|Rand alThor] is momentarily puzzled, and then dashes into the kitchen to find [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred], [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran], [Egwene|Egwene alVere], [Perrin|Perrin Aybara], and [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara]. [Rand|Rand alThor] introduces everyone to [Master Gill|Basel Gill], using their true names. Two cats react strangely to [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred].[2] She says she will set a ward to keep rats away.[3] 

[Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] asks where [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] is and [Rand|Rand alThor] says he is upstairs and not feeling well. [Rand|Rand alThor], [Egwene|Egwene alVere], [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] and [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] go upstairs to see [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] asks where the gleeman is and [Rand|Rand alThor] tells him that [Thom|Thom Merrilin] is dead. They enter the room and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] is worse than ever. He jeers at [Perrin|Perrin Aybara]'s change, [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] being in love, and [Egwene|Egwene alVere] dreaming of being [Aes Sedai]. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] starts to try and treat him when [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] enters and shoves [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] away. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] touches [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] tries to slash her with the [Ruby Dagger]. [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] stops [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]'s slash and holds his wrist. She explains that [Fades|Fade] could sense the [ruby dagger|Ruby Dagger] for miles.[4] 

[Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] confirms that there are [Trollocs] outside the city. [Rand|Rand alThor] finally sees [Perrin|Perrin Aybara]'s yellow eyes. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] tells the [Two Rivers] folk to step outside while she tries to [Heal|Weaves] [Mat|Matrim Cauthon].
