[Perrin|Perrin Aybara] spends another day working for [Dermid Ajala], the blacksmith, with [Faile|Zarine Bashere] watching. They return to the inn that evening. [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] and [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] tell them that [Rand|Rand alThor] is in [Tear|Tear (City)]. There have been many marriages and many other unlikely events occurring in the last day. The First of [Mayene][1] is a "guest" in the [Stone of Tear]. Many people dreamed of [Rand|Rand alThor] holding %%ot [Callandor]%%. Many people also have nightmares because [Be'lal|BeLal] does not shield his dreams. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] say she will deal with [Be'lal|BeLal] tonight. She orders [Perrin|Perrin Aybara], [Zarine|Zarine Bashere] and [Loial] to leave for [Tar Valon] immediately. [Faile|Zarine Bashere] leaves to find [Loial]. Following her through the common room and up the stairs, [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] hears a noise from their private dining room. They find [Faile|Zarine Bashere] lying motionless on the floor with a carved wooden [hedgehog] by her hand. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] barely stops him from entering. She says it was a trap and she felt a flash of pure [Spirit|One Power] when it triggered. She sends [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] to find the innkeeper. The innkeeper says two women left [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] a "surprise." [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] concludes that [Be'lal|BeLal] knows she is in [Tear|Tear (Country)] and had two of the [Black Ajah] set that trap for her. If [Be'lal|BeLal] felt the trigger, then he will not expect them tonight. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] demands to know what is wrong with [Faile|Zarine Bashere]. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] says the [hedgehog] is a %%ot [ter'angreal|Angreal]%% studied by [Corianin Nedeal] and it has something to do with %%ot [Tel'aran'rhiod|TelAranRhiod]%%.[2] [Faile|Zarine Bashere] is now completely in %%ot [Tel'aran'rhiod|TelAranRhiod]%% and her body will soon die. There is nothing she can do. She tells [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] to leave, but he refuses and they leave him to his destiny. [Loial] arrives. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] asks [Loial] to watch his back and leaps into the room.

[Perrin|Perrin Aybara] is in the wolf dream with [Hopper]. He has his hammer instead of the axe. [Hopper] tells him he is in the dream too strongly and will die. He must leave immediately. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] insists on finding [Faile|Zarine Bashere] and [Hopper] agrees to help.
