[Mat|Matrim Cauthon] and [Thom|Thom Merrilin] arrive in [Caemlyn] early in the morning. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] goes to the [The Queen's Blessing|The Queens Blessing] while [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] goes to deliver [Elayne|Elayne Trakand]'s letter. At the [Royal Palace], [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] mentions [Tar Valon] and the guard[1] chases him away. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] goes back to [The Queen's Blessing|The Queens Blessing]. He remembers the stableman, [Ramey], and the cook, [Coline]. He also notes [Lamgwin Dorn] but cannot remember his name. On seeing him, [Coline] recalls that he was with [Rand|Rand alThor] who looked like [Tigraine|Tigraine Mantear]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] meets [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and [Basel Gill]  in the library. He notes ''The Travels of [Jain Farstrider|Jain Charin]'' and thinks that he always meant to read it. Master [Gill|Basel Gill] tells him [Morgase|Morgase Trakand] has a new advisor, Lord [Gaebril|Rahvin], who has been here only a short time. [Gareth Bryne] was forced to retire. Lord [Gaebril|Rahvin] has replaced much of the [Queen's Guards|Andor] with his own men. The relationship between [Andor] and [Tar Valon] is considerably worse since he arrived. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] mentions the letter surprising [Gill|Basel Gill]. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] did not tell him about it. He asks [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] what the letter says, but [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] denies knowing. [Gill|Basel Gill] tells him that he will deliver it or he suggests how [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] can placate the guards and be allowed in. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] says he has his own way of getting in and leaves.
