[Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] enter the [Blue Ajah] quarters where all the resident sisters are waiting. [Anaiya] who greets them first kiddingly chides [ Aeldra|../characters/a/aeldra_najaf] for stealing her pies. [Kairen|Kairen Stang] is next followed by thirty�nine others.[1] [Eadyth|eadyth] and the other two [Sitters][2] wait at the end. [Eadyth|eadyth] sends them to their new rooms telling them to return quickly for a briefing. She sends [Cabriana|Cabriana Mecandes] to accompany them. [Anaiya] and [Kairen|Kairen Stang] come along as well. [Anaiya], [Kairen|Kairen Stang] and [Cabriana|Cabriana Mecandes] are long time friends.[3] On their way [Cabriana|Cabriana Mecandes] confirms that [Eadyth|eadyth] is the [First Selector|../organizations/aes_sedai/blue] as well as a [Sitter|Sitters]. [Kairen|Kairen Stang] defers to [Anaiya]; [Cabriana|Cabriana Mecandes] defers to all four of them. [Kairen|Kairen Stang] plans to leave the [White Tower] soon for business in [Tear|Tear (City)].[4] They each have a bedroom, dressing room, sitting room and study. The decorations are too frilly for [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred],[5] but [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] seems to like them. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] wears her ''[kesiera|../items/kesiera]'' for the first time in six years. The other three [Aes Sedai] leave and [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] head back to see [Eadyth|eadyth]. [Natasia|natasia] directs them to [Eadyth|eadyth]'s quarters. [Eadyth|eadyth] reiterates their lessons that speaking of strength is the second greatest rudeness.[6] Nevertheless, they must always judge others' strength because of the rules of deference. Failure to defer is the third greatest rudeness. This explains why [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] deferred to [Meilyn|Meilyn Arganya] and [Rafela|Rafela Cindal] to [Leane|Leane Sharif]. Deference is required unless your [Ajah|Aes Sedai] or the [Tower|../../geography/tar_valon/white_tower] sets someone above you. On their way back to their rooms [Cetalia Delarme|../characters/c/cetalia] intercepts them. She was not at the greeting ceremony. She has heard of [Siuan|Siuan Sanche]'s analytical ability. She offers [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] a pattern which she quickly solves. [Cetalia|cetalia] hustles [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] back to her office and [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] returns to her rooms. [Anaiya] returns. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] judges her to be nearly as strong as [Cetalia|cetalia]. [Anaiya] offers her [Healing|Weaves#h] to ease the tightness of the oaths. The tightness does not loosen but it feels more comfortable. She also brings a summons to see [Tamra|Tamra Ospenya].

After hours of testing, [Cetalia|cetalia] conscripts [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] to be her assistant as eyes-and-ears for the [Blue Ajah]. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] is dismayed, but has no choice. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] thinks [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] is amazingly tough. In their rooms, she finds [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] despondent. [Tamra|Tamra Ospenya] put her in charge of disbursing the bounty. Now neither of them will be able to leave the [White Tower] to hunt for the [Dragon Reborn|Rand alThor]. She tells [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] that [Cetalia|cetalia] had her looking at reports and [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] immediately figures out that she is the [Blue Ajah] eyes-and-ears head. That is supposed to be secret. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] reveals that the [Tower|White Tower] wants her as Queen of [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. She tells [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] that she does not want to have to be a ruthless tyrant like her great-grandmother [Carewin Damodred|../characters/c/carewin]. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] offers [Healing|Weaves#h] to [Siuan|Siuan Sanche].

[Caniedrin|caniedrin] wants to fight, but [Bukama|Bukama Marenellin] and [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] know that [Pedron Niall], today's commander, knows war too well and will wait. [Bukama|Bukama Marenellin] talks [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] into waiting four months before returning to his battle with the [Blight]. They bypass [Tar Valon] and head south to [Andor] or perhaps [Tear|Tear (Country)].

! Notes (Possible Spoilers)

[#1] Thirty-nine plus two plus six plus [Cetalia|cetalia] makes a total of forty-eight [Blue Ajah] sisters ([ Aeldra|../characters/a/aeldra_najaf] inclusive) in the [White Tower]. With the [Blue Ajah] second smallest, that adds up to at least three hundred fifty, probably closer to five hundred sisters at the [White Tower]. This agrees quite well with the given number of four hundred twenty-three from [NS,Ch3]. The conclusion is that, while the [Ajahs|Aes Sedai] are different in size, the differences are not dramatic.
