__[Egwene|Egwene alVere]__ POV - [Egwene|Egwene alVere] walks the streets of [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)] for exercise. It is six days since [Mangin|mangin] was hanged.[1] She is in a good mood because the [Wise Ones|Aiel] finally told her she can return to %%ot [Tel'aran'rhiod|TelAranRhiod]%%, not in time for the next meeting in three days but certainly in time for the meeting after. Seeing all the people on the street, [Egwene|Egwene alVere] wonders if [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] has a warrant out for her and she gets an attack of paranoia. She hears a rumor that [Andorans|Andor] in [Aringill] have declared for [Dyelin|Dyelin Taravin]. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] sees five or six [Aes Sedai] and realizes that they must be the [White Tower] embassy.[2] It is more than two months since [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan]'s letter arrived. [Rand|Rand alThor] is not in the city. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] thinks he must have rediscovered [Traveling|Weaves#t] but she has no idea how. She goes to the [Wise Ones|Aiel]' tents to report. She finds [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] with [Amys], [Bair] and [Sorilea]. [Rodera|rodera], a %%ot [gai'shain|Aiel]%%, serves tea. She tells them about the embassy and that, at the least, they will try to control [Rand|Rand alThor]. [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] goes to tell [Rhuarc]. On the way out she makes a snide remark to [Egwene|Egwene alVere] and is called down by [Sorilea]. [Amys] kisses [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] like a son or daughter when she leaves.[3] [Egwene|Egwene alVere] wonders why, but there is no honorable way for her to ask. After [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] leaves [Egwene|Egwene alVere] tells the [Wise Ones|Aiel] that the [Aes Sedai] might be after her as well for being friends with [Rand|Rand alThor].[4] The [Wise Ones|Aiel] run her through strenuous exercises to test her health. Later, [Egwene|Egwene alVere] and the [Wise Ones|Aiel] go to the sweat tents, but [Egwene|Egwene alVere] flees when [Rhuarc], [Timolan|timolan] and [Indirian|indirian] join them. She returns to her own tent and is too tired to visit %%ot [Tel'aran'rhiod|TelAranRhiod]%% that night. She dreams of [Gawyn|Gawyn Trakand].
