After [Mat|Matrim Cauthon], [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] and [Selucia] return from their ride, [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] rides alongside [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath] and [Domon|Bayle Domon]. Even [Miyora] and her leopards are boring to [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] now. [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath] tells him [Akein] was a perfect courting gift. Later he talks her into telling him about [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] royalty. They are taught intrigue and fighting from birth. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] had a sister and brother assassinated. The [Empress] always has many children to assure the fittest successor to the [Crystal Throne]. 

[Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon], [Edesina|Edesina Azzedin] and [Joline|Joline Maza] are careless in villages. [Bethamin|Bethamin Zeami] and [Seta|Seta Zarbey] no longer report their actions to him. [Bethamin|Bethamin Zeami] is in training and [Setalle|Setalle Anan] is sure [Seta|Seta Zarbey] can also see the weaves. The [Aes Sedai] found the same loophole for his [foxhead medallion|Foxhead Medallion] as [Adeleas|Adeleas Namelle] and [Vandene|Vandene Namelle]. [Joline|Joline Maza] often pelts him with rocks, but only when [Blaeric|Blaeric Negina] and [Fen|Fen Mizar] are with her. 

When they are alone [Setalle Anan] asks to see the [foxhead medallion|Foxhead Medallion] and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] lets her hold it. He guesses that she was once [Aes Sedai] and she admits it.[1] [Jasfer|Jasfer Anan] found her in the streets of [Ebou Dar] and took her home to his mother. She agrees to keep [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]'s secret that he is besotted with [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag]. 

[Luca|Valan Luca] lets slip to the [Aes Sedai] that [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] is a High Lady and they begin badgering her to negotiate a truce with the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)]. One evening [Lopin] and [Nerim] prepare supper for [Mat|Matrim Cauthon], [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag], [Selucia], [Noal|Noal Charin] and [Olver]. After [Olver] leaves, [Noal|Noal Charin] tells stories about the [Seven Towers] in [Malkier] and [Shol Arbela], the City of Ten Thousand Bells, in [Arafel]. [Joline|Joline Maza], [Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon] and [Edesina|Edesina Azzedin] enter and demand that she end the war before [Tarmon Gai'don|Creator]. 

[Selucia] slips an %%ot [a'dam|aDam]%% onto [Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon] and in the confusion puts one on [Joline|Joline Maza] as well. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] has the bracelets. [Edesina|Edesina Azzedin] tries to run but [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] binds her with [Air|One Power] and slams the door on [Blaeric|Blaeric Negina] and [Fen|Fen Mizar]. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] demonstrates the %%ot [a'dam|aDam]%% on [Joline|Joline Maza]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] tries to talk her into letting them go but she refuses. He moves toward them and the [foxhead medallion|Foxhead Medallion] grows cold. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] is shocked.[2] [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] releases [Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon] then makes all three agree to stop annoying [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag]. Then he releases [Joline|Joline Maza]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] buries the three %%ot [a'dam|aDam]%% in a deep hole and gets soaked with a cold rain for his trouble. The dice are still tumbling in his head.
