! __Birgitte__ POV

[Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] is thinking of [Gaidal|Gaidal Cain] when her awareness of [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] spasms. The other [Warder] are on alert as well. [Venr Kosaan] and [Cieryl Arjuna] say that [Careane|Careane Fransi] feels confident. Suddenly, [Venr Kosaan], [Cieryl Arjuna] and [Tavan] shout, draw their swords and run toward the house. [Jaem] does the same, then [Ned Yarman]. The implication is that [Careane|Careane Fransi], [Vandene|Vandene Namelle] and [Sareitha|Sareitha Tomares] are now dead.[1] [Yurith Azeri] is one of the Guardswomen. Two of the Guardswomen grab [Hark|Samwil Hark]. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] mounts [Arrow|Arrow (Birgitte)] and they all race back through the [Mondel Gate|Caemlyn] to the [Royal Palace]. She can sense that [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] is moving northeast. In the stableyard she sends Guardswoman [Hadora] for the [Windfinders|Sea Folk] and Guardswoman [Sanetre] for Captain [Guybon|Charlz Guybon]. In the Map Room [Dyelin|Dyelin Taravin] is already waiting. There are a dozen attacks in progress at the northern wall. Mistress [Anford] keeps order. [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] is moving toward the [Sunrise Gate|Caemlyn] and the road to the [Erinin River]. [Dyelin|Dyelin Taravin] does not want to move enough soldiers that [Arymilla|Arymilla Marne] takes [Caemlyn].

[Julanya Fote] and [Keraille Surtovni] enter. They report that [Ellorien|Ellorien Traemane], [Luan|Luan Norwelyn] and [Abelle|Abelle Pendar], [Aemlyn|Aemlyn Carand], [Arathelle|Arathelle Renshar] and [Pelivar|Pelivar Coelan] broke camp and a heading north toward [Caemlyn]. [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] leads the [Windfinders|Sea Folk] including [Rainyn], [Renaile|Renaile din Calon Blue Star], [Kurin], [Rysael] and [Senine|Senine din Ryal] into the room. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] explains that she wants the [Windfinders|Sea Folk] to [link|Linking] and make a gateway for the soldiers. [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] initially refuses but [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] tells her that [Arymilla|Arymilla Marne] will break the bargain [Zaida|Zaida din Parede Blackwing] made. She finally agrees. At the [Traveling|Weaves#t] park, all the lords and ladies loyal to [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] have already gathered. They include [Perival Mantear], [Brannin Martan] and his wife[2], [Conail|Conail Northan] and [Branlet|Branlet Gilyard].

[Reene Harfor] runs up followed by two men carrying a third on a stretcher. He reports that three or four companies of [Elayne|Elayne Trakand]'s mercenaries are attacking the [Far Madding Gate|Caemlyn] from the inside. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] wonders which of [Cordwyn|Evard Cordwyn], [Gomaisen|Aldred Gomaisen] or [Bakuvun|Hafeen Bakuvun] is the traitor.[3] The soldier reports that [Bakuvun|Hafeen Bakuvun] is helping the defenders. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] sends [Dyelin|Dyelin Taravin] to take some of the force to defend the gate. [Dyelin|Dyelin Taravin] takes [Conail|Conail Northan], [Catalyn|Catalyn Haevin], [Branlet|Branlet Gilyard] and [Perival|Perival Mantear] with her.

The [Windfinders|Sea Folk] make a gateway to the [Erinin Road] outside the city. [Guybon|Charlz Guybon] leads his soldiers through. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] asks [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] to come through the gateway to see something. She and the other [Windfinders|Sea Folk] follow. They see a wagon coming up the road about a mile away. There are four men and seven women with the wagon.[4] She thinks the eight [Windfinders|Sea Folk] can take them. [Caseille|Caseille Raskovni] asks permission for the Guardswomen to join the fight. Lightning strikes among the soldiers. [Brannin Martan], [Kelwin Janevor], [Laerid Traehand], [Barel|Barel Layden], [Sergase|Sergase Gilbearn] and others lead their armsmen. A flash of [balefire|Weaves#b] from the [fluted black rod] strikes through the army. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] tells [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] that all will be lost if the [Windfinders|Sea Folk] do not aid. [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] agrees and lightning strikes the woman holding the [fluted black rod]. The others are stunned. The wagon driver charges the army waving his sword.[5] [Chanelle|Chanelle din Seran White Shark] says they are also shielded. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] orders them taken alive.

! Notes (Possible Spoilers)

[#1] The implication is, of course, correct. ([KoD,Ch31]) Although it is not explicitly stated, the presumption is that the [Black Ajah] kills all five [Warder] as well. There is not a clear cut answer as to whether or not [Venr Kosaan], [Cieryl Arjuna] and [Tavan] are [Darkfriends], themselves.
\\[#2] [Elvaine Martan]
\\[#3] The traitors are [Rhys a'Balaman], [Aldred Gomaisen] and [Evard Cordwyn]. [Hafeen Bakuvun] remains loyal. ([KoD,Ch35])
\\[#4] The women are [Shiaine Avarhin|Mili Skane], [Asne|Asne Zeramene], [Chesmal|Chesmal Emry], [Eldrith|Eldrith Jhondar], [Falion|Falion Bhoda], [Marillin|Marillin Gemalphin] and [Temaile Kinderode]. The men are [Asne|Asne Zeramene]'s four [Warder] including [Powl]. ([KoD,Ch31], [KoD,Ch33])
\\[#5] Indicating that he is one of [Asne|Asne Zeramene]'s [Warder].
