[Meri] wakens her before dawn. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] would send her off, but [Romanda|Romanda Cassin] would just find another spy. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] goes to her study expecting to find [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar] with a bunch of petitions. Instead, [Theodrin Dabei] and [Faolain Orande] are there. [Theodrin|Theodrin Dabei] chose the [Brown Ajah] and [Faolain|Faolain Orande] chose the [Blue Ajah]. They tell her no one saw anyone but [Halima|AranGar]. They ran into [Tiana|Tiana Noselle] while they were out and were told to go to bed. [Theodrin|Theodrin Dabei] is the stronger of the two. [Faolain|Faolain Orande] says she does not like [Egwene|Egwene alVere]. Both [Romanda|Romanda Cassin] and [Lelaine|Lelaine Akashi] offered to protect them, but both swear fealty to her because she is the [Amyrlin|Aes Sedai]. She thinks only a [Darkfriend|Darkfriends] would break the oath.[1] [Faolain|Faolain Orande] insisted on it. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] sets them two tasks[2] and they leave. 

[Meri] brings her breakfast and leaves. She reads a note left by [Siuan|Siuan Sanche]. She has been using the [twisted ring] to search %%ot [Tel'aran'rhiod|TelAranRhiod]%% and reports finding nothing. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] was denied use of the [twisted ring] for being temperamental, but sneaks it from [Leane|Leane Sharif]. As [Egwene|Egwene alVere] finishes her breakfast [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] enters. [Aeldene Stonebridge], head of the [Blue Ajah] eyes-and-ears, badgers [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] for information about the [Amyrlin|Aes Sedai]'s eyes-and-ears. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] says, "There was no one stronger than me before. No one since..."[3] 

[Myrelle|Myrelle Berengari], one of [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar]'s group, rides by. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] runs outside and stops her because of something [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] has surmised.[4] [Gareth Bryne] also rides up, says a patrol found something he wants her to see. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] tells [Myrelle|Myrelle Berengari] to come with them and sends [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] to get her horse. [Lelaine|Lelaine Akashi] walks up with [Takima], a [Brown Ajah] [Sitter|Sitters]. [Romanda|Romanda Cassin] and [Varilin], a [Gray Ajah] [Sitter|Sitters], come by. With one exception[5] the [Sitters] from the [White Tower] have sided with one or the other. Newly chosen [Sitters] mostly go their own way. They complain that [Delana|Delana Mosalaine] wants [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] declared [Black Ajah] based on stories from [Halima|AranGar]. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] said she and [Lelaine|Lelaine Akashi] used to be friends. [Lelaine|Lelaine Akashi] wants all discussion of the [Black Ajah] stopped; [Romanda|Romanda Cassin] wants to question every sister. 

[Siuan|Siuan Sanche] arrives with the horses and she, [Bryne|Gareth Bryne], [Egwene|Egwene alVere] and [Myrelle|Myrelle Berengari] ride off. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] is riding [Daishar] ("glory" in the [Old Tongue]). They are in [Murandy] at the end of the [Cumbar Hills] south of [Lugard]. [Bryne|Gareth Bryne] does not expect any opposition until they reach [Andor] in ten days. He plans to lay siege on [Tar Valon]. It is critical that they block [Northharbor|Tar Valon] and [Southharbor|Tar Valon].[6] During the [Trolloc Wars] [Dreadlords] and [Trollocs] plundered part of the [White Tower]. An army trying to rescue [Guaire Amalasan] reached the [Tower|White Tower], too. These are part of the secret records hidden in the [Tower|White Tower]. They continue riding.
